The event set an internal benchmark for initiatives in support of sustainable food production
The Sustainability Teams of JBS Brazil brought together key business and corporate leaders on the topic for the 2023 Sustainability Meeting. Participating in the initiative were Mauricio Bauer (Head of JBS Brasil), Liège Correia (Friboi), Kim Sena (JBS Couros), Sheila Guebara (Seara), Joice Derlan (Swift) and their respective teams.
Jason Weller, the company’s global director for Sustainability also took part in the event, presenting the global sustainability strategy, the main challenges of JBS on the path to Net Zero and the role of the teams present in the quest for solutions. Jason reemphasized the impact of climate change on food production, which is the reason for urgent action to counter it. He also stressed the work that has been done so far by the Brazilian teams. According to him, JBS is assisting in the global challenges of sustainable food production, and the company’s vision is to become the benchmark on this issue.
The global sustainability strategy of JBS, according to Jason, includes leading the suppliers in the quest for more sustainable methods of production and in causing a positive impact on the communities where we are located.
The facilitator at the gathering was the team of consulting company Kiwi and served to have the teams on the same page concerning the current context of sustainability within the company, in addition to setting out joint targets and aligning an integrated overall view of the business and corporate sectors on the subject.
