The Campo Grande (MS) plant will be one of the most modern in the world producing powdered plasma and blood
São Paulo, February 16, 2018 – In line with its strategy to seek out sustainable and innovative solutions that create value for the Company, JBS has invested around R$ 40 million over the past two years creating a new business that will produce high added-value ingredients for animal nutrition. The new business, called JBS Feed Solutions, will operate under the JBS New Business umbrella and will use high technology and innovative processes to transform byproducts from the animal protein production chain into powdered plasma and blood.
The unit, based in Campo Grande (MS), occupies 4 thousand m2 and will be one of the most modern in the world, producing ingredients for the Company’s pork and poultry feed production plants, fulfilling all their demand. The plant will be able to produce around 550 tons of powdered blood and 200 tons of powdered plasma a month. These products make up between 2% and 6% of animal feed.
“Campo Grande was chosen because Mato Grosso do Sul plays a significant role in national cattle production and subsequently as a producer of byproducts”, said Nelson Dalcanale, President of JBS New Business. 38% of cattle slaughtered represents byproducts – included powdered plasma and blood. “JBS Feed Solutions will be focusing on meeting group companies’ requirements here in Brazil”, added the executive.
JBS New Business is responsible for operations that are directly and indirectly linked to the company’s core business. This business unit transforms byproducts from beef, pork and chicken processing into high added-value products, generating value for JBS and developing more sustainable production methods for the entire group.
