Friboi, in partnership with the “Refeição de Amor” charity initiative, donated c.400 kg of ribs from its 1953 Friboi premium brand to be used in the preparation of 1,000 meals, which were sold to local businessmen and donated to the underprivileged community of Barretos (SP), through the city’s philanthropic institutions. The funds collected from the meals were sent to Hospital de Amor de Barretos, a worldwide leader in oncology.
The meals included 1953 Friboi ribs, carreteiro rice, fattened beans and ground jerk beef. The barbecue was cooked by Eduardo Pedroso, executive sourcing director from Friboi, with help from volunteers and partners, Toro Negro Steakhouse, Villan Bier Cervejaria and King’s Barbecue.
“Motivating people to give back to the community is always a noble enterprise. For this reason, Friboi is proud to support Hospital de Amor in its fight against cancer. We know that, in the midst of this global pandemic, this support is even more necessary to collect funds and help save lives,” commented Ailton Firmino, Friboi Executive Commercial director.
Since 2018, the Friboi “O Agro Contra o Câncer” campaign, has worked to engage livestock breeders and donated R$ 1.00 (one real) from each animal purchased. More than R$ 1 million has been collected to date.
